Rani ki Vav , The most amazing Stepwell, a World Heritage Place.

Rani ki vav is a Step well situated on the banks of the river Saraswati in the town Patan of Gujarat state of india. It is 900 years old. Its construction is attributed to Queen of the 11th century Udayamati, spouse of Bhima of the solanki dynasty.

  • The recently introduced one hundred rupee note feature has suddenly brought attention to everyone.
  • It is only stepwell to be declared as a UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites since 2014.
  • It was also awarded the cleanest iconic place in India in 2016 at Indian Sanitation Conference.
  • Stepwell has been declared a Monument of National Importance and protected by the ASI.

 

 

The Structure of stepwell is designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water. It is divided into seven levels of stairs. The Seven storey structure measures 64 meters in Length, 20 meters in Width and 28 meters in Depth.

 

 

The Sculptures in Step well depict numerous Hindu deities including Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Goddesses, Ganesha, Kubera, Lakulisha, Bhairava, Surya and Indra. There are a large number of sculptures portraying women in their everyday life and activities.

This world heritage place named “Rani ni VAV”, famous all over world and stamped on One Hundred Rupee’s note is situated at Patan district Gujarat state away 3 km from The Grand Raveta.
